Build your own brand — private label, OEM & ODM

Whether you want to put your logo on an existing factory design or develop a new SKU from a tech-pack, BharatMart connects you with proven private-label manufacturers across China, India, Turkey and Vietnam.

Private label vs OEM vs ODM — which one do you need?

The terms get used interchangeably but they describe different production workflows with different lead times, costs and creative control:

Private Label (White Label)

Existing factory design, your brand on the label. Fastest path to market — sample in 7-14 days, production in 30-45 days. Ideal for fast-fashion, beauty, supplements, consumer electronics accessories.

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer)

Your specification, manufacturer's production. Sample 14-21 days, production 45-75 days. Custom moulds or patterns may add tooling cost. Used for branded electronics, packaged goods, apparel collections.

ODM (Original Design Manufacturer)

Manufacturer designs and produces; you license or buy the design with your brand. Common in consumer electronics where reference designs accelerate time-to-market.

Categories where private label works well on BharatMart

Apparel & fashion

Tirupur (India) for cotton basics, Istanbul (Turkey) for denim and knitwear, Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) for performance and outerwear, Guangzhou (China) for fast-fashion. Sample-to-bulk lead 30-60 days. MOQs typically 100-300 pieces per SKU/colour for established factories; 500-1,000 for premium manufacturers.

Consumer electronics & accessories

Shenzhen and Dongguan (China) dominate. Bluetooth speakers, headphones, smartwatches, power banks, mobile accessories — most have ODM reference designs that you can private-label with logo printing, custom packaging and firmware tweaks. MOQ 500-1,000 units typical; 100-300 with platform consolidation.

Beauty & personal care

South Korea (skincare formulations), India (ayurveda, herbal), China (tools, packaging), Turkey (hair care). Filing/registration requirements vary by destination — for India this means CDSCO; for UAE, MoHAP; for EU, CPNP. We handle compliance documentation.

Home & kitchen

India (textiles, copper, brass), China (appliances, cookware, glassware), Turkey (towels, ceramics). Strong margins for retailers selling private-label kitchenware to direct consumers.

Supplements & health

India is among the world's largest exporters of supplement formulations. GMP-certified factories in Hyderabad, Pune, Bengaluru. FSSAI required for India sales; FDA equivalents for export markets.

The BharatMart private-label flow

  1. Project brief — product type, target retail price, target launch date, key spec requirements (size break, materials, certifications).
  2. Manufacturer matching — we shortlist 2-4 factories with proven production of similar SKUs in the relevant region.
  3. Sample round 1 — paid samples to your address. You evaluate fit, finish, quality.
  4. Sample iteration — refinements on construction, fabric, colour, packaging.
  5. Final approval & PO — production order placed; payment held in escrow.
  6. Pre-shipment inspection — independent QC against your approved sample. Pass/fail report shared.
  7. Ship and clear — sea or air freight, customs filings, destination delivery.

Branding details we handle

Common pitfalls and how we avoid them

"Sample looks great, bulk doesn't"

The classic private-label heartbreak. Solution: pre-shipment inspection against the approved gold sample, not just a generic "looks OK" check. BharatMart's QC team uses your signed-off sample as the comparison reference.

"Lead time slipped 3 weeks"

Often caused by raw-material delays the supplier didn't disclose. Our project managers track raw-material status mid-production and surface delays early so you can adjust your launch plan.

"Hidden costs at customs"

Wrong HS code, missing certificate of origin, or unclassified branded packaging triggering extra duty. Solution: landed-cost estimate done at quote stage, not after the container ships.

If you have a tech-pack or design brief, post it as an RFQ with target volume and price. If you're at the idea stage, talk to a project manager first — we'll help you figure out which production region and supplier tier matches your launch goals.
